As part of our commitment to providing students with practical and experiential learning opportunities, our school recently organized an educational trip to the Provincial Museum (प्रदेशिक संग्रहालय) located in Birendranagar, Surkhet, the capital city of Karnali Province.
The museum, managed by the Ministry of Social Development, Karnali Province, is a treasure trove of historical, cultural, and ethnic artifacts that reflect the rich heritage of the region. More information about the museum can be found on its official website: pms.karnali.gov.np

Organized as a part of our experiential learning program, the museum visit allowed students to explore diverse exhibits—ranging from ancient tools and traditional clothing to historical manuscripts, ethnic artifacts, and natural history collections. The museum beautifully preserves and presents the identity, art, lifestyle, and traditions of the various indigenous communities living in the Karnali Province.

Students were fascinated by the collection of ancient coins, agricultural tools, musical instruments, and traditional household items. Equally engaging were the sections on biodiversity, showcasing preserved animal species, plants, and minerals found in the region. Through these exhibits, students gained a deep appreciation for the cultural richness and ecological diversity of our province.
A guided tour provided insightful explanations about each section, and the museum staff welcomed our group warmly, answering students’ questions with great enthusiasm and knowledge. It was not only an educational trip but also a reminder of the importance of preserving our heritage.
A Memorable Learning Experience
The museum visit helped students connect classroom learning with real-world experiences. They learned about:
- The history and cultural richness of Karnali
- Different ethnic groups like Magar, Tharu, and Raute
- The value of preserving culture and history
- How museums protect our heritage for future generations

This visit helped our students understand the value of history and culture in shaping our identity and future. We hope to organize more such interactive learning opportunities that blend classroom knowledge with real-world experience.
Thank you to the Provincial Museum of Karnali Province for this wonderful opportunity and for their dedication to preserving our past for future generations.
